About the Author

I’m Emmy May Flowers, a crime thriller writer obsessed with the shadows that creep beneath everyday life.

My stories are set against the wild, windswept landscapes of Northumberland and North Tyneside, where narrow streets, cold seas, and isolated villages become the perfect backdrop for secrets, and lies.

Before I started writing full-time, I spent years collecting stories from real people within the criminal justice service—listening to the quiet confessions, the almost-forgotten memories, and the what-ifs that never quite let go.

Those fragments of truth and emotion now thread their way through my novels, where I’m less interested in perfect heroes and more fascinated by flawed, complicated characters who don’t always make the right choices.

I reside in Northumberland and have dedicated my personal life to reading and writing. Snapshot was written in 2024, during a period where I was recovering from a mental breakdown. The fast-paced crime thriller began as a writing prompt and soon expanded into the novel you hold in your hands today.

Professionally I have worked in the prison service and other sectors within the criminal justice system, even crossing over to the dark side of defence temporarily. I’ve had a keen interest in crime and the criminal justice system in England and Wales ever since I can remember and that interest is reflected in the pages of this book.
